Ecuador amazon rainforest Cuyabeno Reserve primary forestThe Amazon, one of the wonders of our planet, contains an abundance of unique flora and fauna. More than 25,000 species of Amazonian plants contribute 20% of the oxygen that exists in the earth's atmosphere. In addition 66% of all the world's fresh water can be found here. It is a rainforest of unique beauty. It contains an incredible diversity of species of plants and animals, beyond comparison elsewhere in the world.
Monkeys, sloths, anteaters, armadillos, tapirs, jaguars, manatees and fresh water dolphins are just some of the mammals that live here, along with a great variety of reptiles such as snakes, caiman, and the great anaconda. A plethora of fish can also be found in the jungle, including Paiche (Arapaima) and the famous piranha. ITINERARY (5D / 4N) ( 4D /3N)1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente. Flight 10:30 a.m. or bus journey (one day before - 8 hours) to Lago Agrio. Journey from Lago Agrio to El Puente. Canoe trip down on Cuyabeno River to our camp site. We will go on an exciting night walk followed by dinner and a lesson on the animals and environment of the jungle. 3.- Cuyabeno River. After breakfast we paddle by traditional dug-out canoe on the Caiman-Cocha (Laguna del Caiman) where we will enjoy the unique surroundings, have a picnic lunch, and hike in the primary forest to learn about the use of plants for survival. Before we go back to our camp, enjoy a refreshing swim in the river and watch the sunset on the magnificent Laguna Grande. 5.- El Puente-Lago Agrio-Quito. We will wake up early for morning bird watching. After breakfast, we journey up the Cuyabeno River to El Puente. We drive back to Lago Agrio at 16:00, followed by a flight or bus journey back to Quito.
