Ecuador Amazon Rainforest Cuyabeno Reserve Primary Jungle Cuyabeno Lodge

The Amazon is one of the wonders of our planet, it contains an abundance of unique flora and fauna. More than 25,000 species of Amazonian plants contribute 20% of the oxygen that exists in the earth's atmosphere. In addition 66% of all the world's fresh water can be found here. It is a rainforest of unique beauty. It contains an incredible diversity of species of plants and animals, beyond comparison elsewhere in the world.

You will be amazed as you walk through the jungle, where around 400 species of plants have been identified in one acre alone. Magnificently colored birds, of which there are 500 species, fly overhead.

Monkeys, sloths, anteaters, armadillos, tapirs, jaguars, manatees and fresh water dolphins are just some of the mammals that live here, along with a great variety of reptiles such as snakes, caiman, and the great anaconda. A plethora of fish can also be found in the jungle, including Paiche (Arapaima) and the famous piranha.

LODGE SERVICES:

The accommodation at the Amazon Jungle Lodge in the Cuyabeno Reserve is in private cabanas single, double, triple, familiar and matrimonial, all with private bathroom, hot and cold water, electricity to recharge the batteries generated by solar panels friendly to the environment. Simple, yet attractive accommodation.

How to get there from Quito to Lagoagrio?

BUS QUITO-LAGO AGRIO

There are several options to travel to the meeting point. You can take a bus ride from Quito to Lago Agrio we recommend the company Transs. Esmeraldas, buses leave at 9pm and 11pm from the New Town, avenue Colon and 9 de Octubre Street.The journey takes 7 to 8 hours.

There also other bus companies going almost every hour from Quito to Lago Agrio.

The meeting point is in Hotel D´MARIO at 8am where you have the breakfast included, the people flying they will be pick up at the airport in Lagoagrio by one off the staff.

The tour starts at 9:30am at the meeting point.

FLIGHTS QUITO-LAGO AGRIO

There are two Airlines TAME (9:30am) AEROGAL(8:45am) , the flight cost 160usd two ways. The flight takes 30minutes.

ITINERARY (5DAYS / 4NIGHTS) ( 4DAYS /3NIGHTS)

1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - El Puente. Following either a Flight 10:30a.m. or bus journey (one day before - 8hours) to Lago Agrio. We meet at the Hotel Lago Imperial, from here we journey by bus to El Puente. From El Puente a canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to the Cuyabeno Lodge. We will go on an exciting nocturnal adventure, followed by dinner and a talk on the animals and environment of the jungle.

2.- Laguna Grande. After breakfast, we trek into the primary rainforest to learn about medicinal plants and biological flora and fauna. After lunch, relax by the river or enjoy a siesta in one of our hammocks. The afternoon activities include Piranha fishing, swimming in the laguna, and Caiman spotting. We conclude the evening with a fabulous sunset and a delicious meal.

3.- Cuyabeno River. We will a hike in a different part of the forest this includes the opportunity to see the biggest trees in the amazon rainforest and different ecosystems. We also visit an Indigenous Community, where our naturalist guide will explain the culture and traditions of the native people. Here we will prepare traditional food and visit the local Shaman. After we will enjoy a delicious lunch. Finish the day by experiencing the beautiful sunset at the laguna and take the opportunity to spot more wildlife, before dinner.

4.- El Puente-Lago Agrio-Quito. We will watch the birds and animals in the tranquility of the early morning. After our professional bird watching we will watch the sunrise over the jungle canopies. After breakfast, we journey up the Cuyabeno River to El Puente, taking our last look at the Jungle animals, flora and fauna. We drive back to Lago Agrio at 14:00, followed by your return flight or bus journey.

5.-Our 5 day program, takes the opportunity to paddle in a ecological canoe, experiencing jungle life at a slower place. The schedual gives you greater opportunities to see further the magic of the jungle and the opportunity to see the elusive wildlife not already spotted.
