Ecuador Amazon Rainforest Luxury Jungle Tour and Bird Watching Yasuni National Park Jungle Lodges

Created in 1979, Yasuni is Ecuador´s largest mainland National Park. UNESCO declared an International Biosphere Reserve. This large area in the rainforest protects three types of vegetation ranging from woodlands on dry soil to semipermanently flooded forest.

Yasuni is mostly uninhabitited, except for several Huaorani indigenous families who have lived within the park boundaries for generations.
Imagine Ecuador pairs a full service, first class jungle expedition with ecologically friendly tourism, Our private thatch-roofed cabañas, bar and restaurant are powered by solar panels.

LOCATION:
Located 2 1/2hours down the Napo River from Coca, an area of pristine rainforest.
Accessible by motorized and paddle canoe only; there are no roads in the area.

GETTING THERE AND AWAY.

There are two options to get to Coca:

Air transport:

The plane from Quito to Coca leaves at 11:10am, but we comfirm all flight information when the date of the tour approaches. A bilingual host will meet you at Quito airport to help you with your tickets and baggage, and a person from our staff will be waiting for you in Coca.

Bus transport:

A bus from "Trans Esmeraldas" leaves from the bus station in Quito at 9p.m.(day before your trip starts).The journey last 9hours. The meeting point is with our guide in Hotel El Auca in Coca between 12:00 and 12:30pm.

SERVICES:

  • Accommodation in private cabañas: single, double, triple, family rooms and matrimonial; all with modern bathroom.
  • Electric light generated by solar panels.-
  • Excellent 3 course meals,featuring international cuisine and samples of local forest foods,attended by full waiting on staff.-
  • Cocktails and new drinks in our bar.-
  • Welcome appetizers and aperitifs. -
  • Snacks for the expedition.

Activities:

Climb a 30 meter tree tower built around the Ceibo Tree.-

  • Special programs for Birders. This territory is home to more than 550 species of birds(specialized guides at no extra cost).-
  • Hike an extensive network of trails.-
  • Night caiman watching and night walks.-
  • Bird watching.
  • Visit the community centre and a native house.-
  • Yasuni National Park (Parrot clay lick $25 extra cost).

Wildlife that can be found at the pristine rain forest.

  • 550 species of birds, including toucans, macaw, parrots, herons, etc.-
  • 1500 species of trees and lianas. -
  • 100 species of frogs like the very colorful poison dart frogs and tree frogs. -
  • 13 types of primates, featuring wooly monkey, squirrel monkey, and howler monkey. -
  • 1000 different butterflies.
  • Mammals such as peccaries, boars, tapir, puma, ocelot and jaguar (Tracks seen regularly, animals hardly ever).
  • Black caiman, largest relative of the alligator, sometimes up to 5 meters in length.

COST INCLUDES:

Accomodation, three meals per day, two guides (native and bilingual), excursions, and transportation to and from Coca.

COST DOES NOT INCLUDE:

Airfare to and from Quito (US $120.00) or bus ticket (US $20.00), and bar bill.

WE PROVIDE: Rubber boots and poncho for the walks.
DEPARTURES: Monday to Friday, 5 days Friday to Monday, 4 days.
