OVERVIEW

The Sani Lodge is dedicated to ecotourism, environmental conservation and community projects – it is owned and operated by members of the Sani community with profits reinvested to improve the life of locals. Above all though the project has given the local Sani people a sense of pride for their forest and culture.

Located on the Challuacocha Lake set in over 100,000 acres of untouched rainforest between the Cuyabeno and Yasuni National Park you have access to an extensive diversity of flora and fauna (the lake itself is home to Manatee, Giant Otter and Black Caiman) as well as the opportunity to interact with and get to know the Sani People.

Attractive thatch-roofed cabins line the shore of the lagoon, each is equipped with single and double beds, electric lights, modern bathroom with shower. A solar-panel project is under way to provide hot water and 24-hour electricity (they currently use an electricity generator which does not operate 24 hours and no hot water).

As well as the regular lodge cabins there is also a new camping area for more adventurous or budget-minded travellers. This area has 2 shared bathrooms and a thatch-roof cover to prevent the rain getting into your tent!

Guests can also count on an open-air dining area, bar, laundry service and a 100-foot canopy tower for bird-watching.
