LAGUNA AMARILLA
Altar Volcano
Alta Trekking and Camping. The high-altitude hike covers 4 to 6 hours per day over muddy trails and steep hills, but you’re rewarded with views of the crater lake and majestic El Altar. Meals and lodging at the Collanes Refuge are provided along with transport.
FIRST DAY
The trip begins at 8 am in Riobamba or in Banos de Agua Santa. The pick up is at your hotel, then you will drive for aproximately 2 hours till the entrance called ” La Candelaria”
After preparing the equipment, you’ll start the 15 km walk to Sangay National Park in a journey of 6 to 7 hours till the refuge where you will set up the tents to spend the overnight.

SECOND DAY
7:00 After breakfast you’ll start with the walk of approximately 2 km to the crater (Laguna Amarilla – 4100 masl / 13451.44 Feet), this tour is done in approximately 4 hours between going and returning. In the crater we have enough time to take pictures and enjoy the impressive scenery.
At 12:30pm aproximately you’ll pack your belongs at the campsite and return to the base of the Altar in an average of 4 hours, at the base the vehicle awaits us to return to the Banos or Riobamba where you’ll arrive around 6pm. End of the services.
