Rafting Quijos River
Rafting Quijos River, Rafting Ecuador, Whitewater Rafting, River Rafting, River Rafting Ecuador South America.
The Quijos River in Ecuador is one of the most spectacular and exciting whitewater rafting in South America.
Throughout the trip, you can expect frothy whitewaters and foaming waves, keeping you engrossed all through the trip!
At its every bend, the river brings exceptional whitewaters. With rapids class III – IV, the rafting zone of the river is quite synonymous with high-rising waves & tumultuous torrents spotted with spellbinding rapids. The Quijos River, sometimes turns out to be truly magical.
We take you on the very same rapids in the Quijos River that challenged two hundred and fifty of the world’s best rafters as they battled it out in October 2005 to be crowned World Champions!
The day starts when we pick you up at 7 am from our Meeting Point. We will travel east up across the paramo and down through beautiful cloud forest to the base in the Quijos valley. The trip will take about two and a half hours.
At the base you’ll enjoy a country style breakfast and be fitted up with wetsuits, life jackets and helmets. After a short drive to the put-in the Trip Leader will give a thorough safety briefing and conduct a swim test. Then you’ll split into groups for an intensive in-boat paddle practice with your guide. You’ll be thankful there are some easier rapids to warm up on before we hit the big technical rapids of the river’s upper canyons. We take on the very same rapids that challenged two hundred and fifty of the world’s best rafters as they battled it out in 2005 to be crowned World Champions. But don’t panic – it was our years of experience running the Quijos that convinced us to invite them all to compete on this truly remarkable river. Rafting time approximately 21⁄2 hrs.
During the trip we’ll stop by the side of the river for a snack and then waiting for us at the take- out will be a delicious picnic lunch including fresh tropical fruits and served with soft drinks, juice and water. And of course we celebrate a fun day on the river with an ice-cold beer. After lunch we head back to Quito. Arrival time is approximately 7:30pm but may be earlier or later depending on the river level and traffic conditions.
