RAFTING TENA
Rafting Jondachi Hollin
Whitewater Rafting in Tena Ecuador Jondachi and Hollin Rivers. One of the most amazing rafting adventure in Ecuador, these rivers located in a remote area in the park Sumaco in the Amazon hast it all for you!
The Jondachi trip is the complete jungle adventure experience. Think hiking down along a muddy trail to the put-in. Shooting rapids past tumbling waterfalls while parrots squawk overhead. And being refreshed by the waters gushing out of the World Heritage-listed Sumaco Biosphere Reserve.
The trip begins at 8.30am in Tena at Café Tortuga. We drive north towards the the community of Mondayacu which is situated at the trailhead.
At the start of the hike every paddler is issued with a life jacket, helmet and paddle. Members of the community are hired as porters to carry the rafts and the all important lunch coolers. The trail leads us up and down for about 20 minutes before the final descent to a suspension bridge across the Jondachi. The bridge is a vital link to the Quechua farms on the other side of the valley and serves us as the ideal platform to scout the first rapids.
Before paddling down river we will fit you with your life jacket and helmet, give you a comprehensive safety briefing, introduce you to your guide, and then train your team in the paddling techniques needed to navigate our way down the river. The rapids of the Jondachi are great fun and require excellent teamwork to weave through the many obstacles they present. This is what jungle rafting is all about.
During the trip we’ll stop at a riverside beach for a delicious picnic lunch that includes fresh tropical fruits and is served with soft drinks, juice and water. At the end of the trip we celebrate a great day out with a few ice-cold beers or sodas. The drive from the take-out back to Tena takes about forty minutes. Arrival time is approximately 4pm but may be earlier or later depending on the river level.
